Matthew Stafford Trucks Teammate on Game-Winning TD Run (Video)
Matthew Stafford again came through in the clutch for the Detroit Lions and didn’t mind mowing over his teammate to do so.
Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford almost cost his team the game late in the fourth quarter. With the lead, Stafford needed to simply hang onto the ball and avoid mistakes. Instead, he made a sloppy throw that was easy to read for the defense. As a result, the MVP candidate looked nothing of the sort as he coughed up a pick-six and, subsequently, the Lions’ lead at home.
If there is any lesson to be learned from the 2016 season, though, it’s that you shouldn’t ever count out Matthew Stafford until the clock reads triple-zeroes. And if anyone hadn’t learned that lesson by Week 14, he decided to let hem know once again.
Stafford led yet another drive in the clutch for his team and got them into the red zone. As he was feeling it with his arm, he looked to the end zone for a potential game-winning touchdown pass. When it wasn’t there for him, he improvised and decided to use his leg. Going up the middle of the field, the Georgia product refused to go down. He bounced off hits, spun, and then eventually trucked Eric Ebron to get into the end zone for the game-winning touchdown. One thing to not about Ebron, he is in fact Stafford’s Lions teammate:
You know that your quarterback isn’t going down until he scores when he’s willing to mow over his own tight end to get the six.

Though the Bears got the ball back, this score was enough to give them the 20-17 victory in Week 14 on Sunday. That moves the Lions to 9-4 on the season and in prime position to make it into the playoffs as the NFC North winner. And when you see Stafford do things like this in the clutch, what else would you expect.
