Washington Redskins receiver Pierre Garcon caught a touchdown, but absolutely ate it when he went to the sidelines to give the ball to a fan.
We’ve certainly seen a number of receivers and pass-catchers have success with Kirk Cousins in the 2016 NFL season. However, old reliable for Cousins and quarterbacks before him with the Washington Redskins has been Pierre Garcon. He’s been a veteran in every sense of the word and simply keeps producing year after year. That didn’t stop in Week 14 against the Philadelphia Eagles, but he’s had finer moments still—or at least less embarrassing ones.
Washington came back from trailing to take a 14-13 lead over the Eagles on the road. Following that, they were looking for an even bigger lead. After a beautiful sideline catch by DeSean Jackson got them within easy striking distance, they went back to the right sideline for Garcon.
Garcon ran a beautiful route to get free from his coverage and Cousins hit him with a beautiful ball. He had his man beaten so badly that it was easy money from that point. What wasn’t easy, though, was staying on his feet.
After the score, Garcon went over to the stands to try and give the ball to a fan. Instead, he absolutely ate it as he busted his rear:
Don't think this was Pierre Garcon's intended TD celebration. https://t.co/1F5AArbXeU

Well that’s embarrassing. But the good news is that one lucky fan did eventually get the touchdown ball from Garcon:

While we don’t want to lessen a great play for six points, which is what this was, we’re only going to remember him falling on his backside beyond today.

Sorry, Pierre Garcon. Try and stay on your feet next time to avoid further embarrassment and memories like this.
