Cleveland Browns: 2017 NFL Draft Projected Targets
By Peter Smith
3-Tech Defensive Tackles
Larry Ogunjobi, Charlotte
Age: 22 (Born June 3, 1994)
Height: 6-2.5
Weight: 305 lbs
40 Yard Dash: 5.09s
Broad Jump: 9’8″
Vertical: 32″
3-Cone: 7.55s
Shuttle: 4.75s
Bench: 25 reps
Production: 3 sacks (21.4 percent), 13.5 tackles for loss (27.5 percent)
Notes: Ogunjobi picked up football in high school as a way to lose weight and literally save his life (he weighed 350 lbs). He knows a great deal about nutrition and has changed his body the last several years. An incredibly accomplished student with a double major in computer science and biology, he started every game of his career for the 49ers as they were a brand new football program, but also led the team in tackles for loss all four seasons.
Montravius Adams, Auburn
Age: 21 (Born July 24, 1995)
Height: 6-3.625
Weight: 304 lbs
40 Yard Dash: 4.87s
Broad Jump: 9’
Vertical: 29″
3-Cone: 7.62s
Shuttle: 4.89s
Bench: 22 reps
Production: 4.5 sacks (18 percent), 8.5 tackles for loss (10.2 percent)
Notes: Adams played in 52 games with 26 starts for the Tigers. He had an unimpressive junior campaign and really kicked it up a notch as a senior to return to the form many scouts thought he could have.
Jaleel Johnson, Iowa
Age: 22 (Born July 12, 1994)
Height: 6-2.875
Weight: 316 lbs
40 Yard Dash: 5.38s (5.08 at Pro Day)
Broad Jump: 8’4″ (8’5″ at Pro Day)
Vertical: 28″
3-Cone: 7.64s
Shuttle: 4.62s
Bench: 19 reps
Production: 7.5 sacks (26.7 percent), 10 tackles for loss (16.6 percent)
Notes: Johnson improved his 40 time at Pro Day, but he dropped 17 pounds to do it. His explosion is a legitimate question mark, but his outstanding production makes up for some of it.
Tanzel Smart, Tulane
Age: 22 years old (Born November 6th, 1994)
Height: 6-1
Weight: 296 lbs
40 Yard Dash: 5.24s (Estimated 5.15s at Pro Day)
Broad Jump: 8’9″
Vertical: 27″
3-Cone: 6.94s
Shuttle: 4.4s
Bench: 22 reps
Production: 5.5 sacks (18.9 percent), 18.5 tackles for loss (21.2 percent)
Notes: Smart led his team in both sacks and tackles for loss this past season. Showed up at Tulane as a freshman at 335 pounds and shed a ton of fat and added muscle until he played this year at just under 300 pounds.
Pat Ricard, Maine
Age: 22 (Born May 27, 1994)
Height: 6-3.375
Weight: 300 lbs
40 Yard Dash: 5.0s
Broad Jump: Unavailable
Vertical: 33.5″
3-Cone: 7.5s
Shuttle: 4.5s
Bench: 33 reps
Production: 5.5 sacks (30.5 percent), 15.5 tackles for loss (24.6 percent)
Notes: Ricard finished his collegiate career with 208 tackles, including 47.5 for a loss, along with 18 sacks, 11 pass deflections, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and two blocked kicks.
Tueni Lupeamanu, Idaho
Age: 21 (Born April 14, 1995)
Height: 6-0.25
Weight: 282 lbs
40 Yard Dash: 4.99s
Broad Jump: 9’1″
Vertical: 32″
3-Cone: 7.37s
Shuttle: 4.49s
Bench: 26 reps
Production: 4 sacks (16.6 percent), 9 tackles for loss (13.8 percent)
Notes: Lupeamanu played quarterback and linebacker in high school and had never played defensive line until he got to Idaho. The Vandals also employed him as a short yardage back giving him the ball seven times for 11 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Jeremiah Ledbetter, Arkansas
Age: 22 (Born June 2, 1994)
Height: 6-2.875
Weight: 280 lbs
40 Yard Dash: 4.84s (4.75s at Pro Day)
Broad Jump: 10′ (Pro Day)
Vertical: 32.5″ (33.5″ at Pro Day)
3-Cone: 7.55s
Shuttle: 4.56s
Bench: 29 reps
Production: 4 sacks (16.6 percent), 9 tackles for loss (13.8 percent)
Notes: Ledbetter is best suited to play as a 5-tech, but he did play defensive tackle for Arkansas and his athleticism could be attractive as a role player that can move up and down the line.
0/1-Tech Defensive Tackles
D.J. Jones, Ole Miss
Age: 22 (Date of Birth is January 19th, 1995)
Height: 6-0.625
Weight: 319 lbs
40-Yard Dash: 5.04s

Short Shuttle: 4.65s
Bench Press: 25 reps

Notes: Started his career at East Mississippi Community College, now featured on Last Chance U. He was part of teams that went a combined 24-0 and won back to back JUCO National Titles before going to Ole Miss.
Eddie Vanderdoes, UCLA
Age: 22 (Born Oct. 13, 1994)
Height: 6-3
Weight: 320 lbs
40-Yard Dash: 5s

3 Cone: 7.69s
Short Shuttle: 4.39s
Bench Press: 28 reps
Production: 1.5 sacks (6 percent), 1.5 tackles for loss (2.3 percent)
Notes: After a dominant sophomore season, Vanderdoes tore his ACL early in his junior year. He really didn’t seem to be himself until the Senior Bowl. The medical is everything with Vanderdoes because he’s an outstanding athlete with potential if he can stay on the field.
Rashaad Coward, Old Dominion
Age: Unavailable
Height: 6-5
Weight: 322 lbs
40-Yard Dash: 5.03s
Broad Jump: Unavailable
Vertical: 26″
3 Cone: Unavailable
Short Shuttle: Unavailable
Bench Press: 24 reps
Production: 1.5 sacks (4.4 percent), 7.5 tackles for loss (9.4 percent)
Notes: Coward was born in inner city Brooklyn and his mother, father and grandmother are all cancer survivors that dealt with different forms of the disease all within a year of each other while Coward was in college.
Grover Stewart, Albany State
Age: 23 (Date of Birth is Oct. 20, 1993)
Height: 6-4.625
Weight: 334 lbs

3 Cone: 7.71s
Short Shuttle: 4.75s
Vertical: 26″
Bench Press: 30 reps
Production: 7.5 sacks (28.8 percent), 12 tackles for loss (20 percent)
Notes: Stewart played in 39 of the 40 career games at Albany State. Remarkable movement skills for someone that size, but stamina is the issue.
Darrien Howard, West Virginia
Age: Unavailable
Height: 6-0.25
Weight: 302 lbs
40 Yard Dash: 4.97 (Pro Day)
Broad Jump: 9’4″

Shuttle: 4.69s
Bench: 26 reps
Production: 3 sacks (13 percent), 6 tackles for loss (9.8 percent)
Notes: A middle linebacker in high school, Howard played the nose in West Virginia’s 3-3-5. His athletic testing suggests he can contribute as a 3-tech in certain situations.

Height: 6-0.625
Weight: 337 lbs
40 Yard Dash: DNP (Heel Injury)
