Taking a look at the when the Pittsburgh Steelers will start 2017 training camp as they’ll look to put themselves in Super Bowl contention this year.

This past postseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers pulled off a feat that we rarely see in the NFL Playoffs. In their matchup with the Divisional Round, they topped the Kansas City Chiefs despite not scoring a touchdown. However, that special win was quickly dampened. That’s because they met with the eventual-champion Patriots in the AFC Championship Game and were thwarted.

Coming into 2017 training camp, the Steelers are now hoping they can better that. They suffered a few veteran losses on defense, most notably that of Lawrence Timmons. However, they largely only improved on both sides of the ball this offseason through various means.

Through the draft with guys like T.J. Watt for the defense and then someone like Martavis Bryant returning after being suspended last season, the Steelers should be in a substantially better position heading into the 2017 season. However, they need to make sure that their stars come to work, which entails (likely, at least) locking up Le’Veon Bell to continue playing with the likes of Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown.

Who knows if that deal gets done anytime soon, but it’s clear that the Steelers will once again assume their post as contenders. It starts with training camp in terms of their road to achieving that goal.

So, with those type of aspirations, there’s great anticipation for the upcoming season in Pittsburgh. With that in mind, when does the Pittsburgh Steelers 2017 training camp start?

The Steelers will begin training camp when players report on July 27. With that being said, practices won’t officially begin until the next day on July 28. When they take the field, they hope that Bell is there. What’s more, they hope that it’s the start of the road to a championship.
