Oakland Raiders’ Marshawn Lynch plays charity soccer like only he can (Video)
Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch played in a charity soccer game on Sunday night and it was everything you could ever hope for
There are plenty of reasons for the Oakland Raiders to be excited about the return of Marshawn Lynch to the NFL. Though he has a year of rust, he’s also fully healthy now. And running behind one of the best offensive lines in the league, he could be a major factor in taking their already-explosive offense to the next level.
However, Beast Mode appears to already have his highlight of the season. It just happened to come on the soccer pitch rather than the gridiron.
On Sunday night, Lynch participated in the Zakuana & Friends charity soccer game in Washington put on by former Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers player Steve Zakuani to benefit Kingdom’s Hope (h/t Sounder at Heart). Also playing was another NFL legend and big personality, Chad Ochocinco. Of course, it was the Raiders running back who ultimately stole the show on Sunday night.
He started things off by coming onto the pitch, as players do. Unlike other players in soccer, though, Lynch wasn’t wearing cleats. Instead, he came onto the pitch wearing sandals — yes, sandals. He then proceeded to shoulder block every opposing player in sight on his way into the game:
Lynch then promptly made his presence felt with a run at goal. No, I don’t mean that he made a great soccer play. When passed the ball at the top of the box, Lynch picked it up and took off into the net like he was finding the end zone on a rush:
For his unorthodox style of offense, Lynch was shown a red card. He was less than pleased with that decision, though, as he threw the card out of the referee’s hand and then punted the ball away before leaving the field:
Oh, Beast Mode; how we missed you so.

As previously stated, the Raiders have reason to be excited about Lynch’s return to football and arrival in Oakland. While fans may also be excited about his on-field exploits, let’s be honest with ourselves. The biggest win here is that we have Beast Mode and his antics back in our lives.
Just don’t expect Manchester United to come calling anytime soon.
