New Orleans Saints: 3 predictions for the 2017 season
The New Orleans Saints have had their fair share of letdowns, but this season is full of hope and potential so here are 3 predictions for this year.
The New Orleans Saints have become a shell of their former selves. This year, they look to return to their former glory. With new additions in free agency, a stellar draft and a lot of potential playmakers, the world is their oyster. Well, the NFL and NFC South is at the very least.
They started off a strong free agency by signing Ted Ginn Jr. from the Carolina Panthers, a smart move. A veteran receiver who is fast and good at making plays — yes please. Then came a move that’s still confusing, the trade with the New England Patriots. The Saints traded away star wide receiver Brandin Cooks and a late-round draft pick for two high draft picks, but was it really worth it?
Time will tell, but the Saints used their draft picks wisely too. They focused heavily on defense throughout and managed to snag Marshon Lattimore, the cornerback out of Ohio State. Wrapping up the first round, they picked up offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk.
Everything wasn’t all great, though, as the injury bug took a few players out early. The loss of Nick Fairley, Terron Armstead, and Max Unger still stings. However, the Saints appear prepared to weather on still.
The Saints won’t hit the field until Sept. 11, so there’s plenty of time to speculate. I’ll be going through my three predictions for the season and hopefully, one will come true. If not, then maybe next season?
