When does Houston Texans 2017 training camp start?

Taking a look as to when the Houston Texans will begin 2017 training camp as they ready for a quarterback battle between Deshaun Watson and Tom Savage.

The Houston Texans are undoubtedly heading in a new direction with 2017 training camp set to begin. After winning the AFC South again last season, they made changes. Not only did they get rid of Brock Osweiler via a trade, but then they traded up in the draft to take Deshaun Watson at No. 12.

Heading into Texans 2017 training camp, the big story will be Watson battling Tom Savage for the starting job. Head coach Bill O’Brien has maintained that Savage will be the starter. However, he’s going to have to prove it and the rookie proved to be a gamer as he led the Clemson Tigers to a National Championship one season ago.

Regardless of what happens at quarterback, though, the Texans are undoubtedly one of the best defenses in the entire league. If you need any further evidence of that just look at last year. Few would deny the fact that J.J. Watt is one of the best defensive players in the NFL. However, he missed the entire year essentially and Houston was still one of the best units out there. Now Watt will return to the action and the defense should be ready to wreak havoc.

Watt’s health will also be on the docket in terms of 2017 training camp. He’ll need to get back to full strength and prove he can be the superstar that he once was. If he can do that and the quarterback situation can work out, the Texans will be in good shape. So then, when does the Houston Texans 2017 training camp start?
