4. The offense performs better than it did in 2014

The 2014 is arguably the Dallas Cowboys’ best season this decade. Let’s take a trip down memory lane for a moment. Ex-Cowboy DeMarco Murray set the team’s single season rushing record with 1,845 yards.

Former football player Tony Romo was a legitimate MVP-candidate. Dez Bryant led the league in touchdown receptions, and Zack Martin was still a rookie. But for a questionable (at best) officiating call in the playoffs, Dallas was headed for it’s first NFC Championship under head coach Jason Garrett.

They put up some gaudy numbers that year. Namely, 6,138 total offensive yards, 56 total offensive touchdowns and an average of 32:50 time-of-possession.

The 2017 Dallas Cowboys will best them in every category. That means at least 6,139 total yards. On top of that, they’ll need to put the ball in the end zone at least 57 times. And, they’ll need to hang on to that ball for an average of 32 minutes and 51 seconds every game.

Dak Prescott and company almost beat out the yards mark last season, coming within 200 yards. The touchdown total should prove the hardest to attain. Leaning on Ezekiel Elliot again should give them the TOP edge once again.

Now, that’s no small task. However, if Dez Bryant is right in his assessment of the caliber of this year’s team, it should be possible.
