Fantasy Football 2017: So you want to wait on quarterbacks?
By Dan Thomas
4. Kurt Kirk Cousins, Washington Redskins
Fantasy Football Calculator ADP: 10.01
Last season, Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins finished third in the NFL in passing yards and was just 83 yards short of 5,000 yards passing. He finished as the fifth-best fantasy quarterback in 2016 a year after finishing in the top-eight. Despite the success he’s had in fantasy land, there’s a chance he could regress in 2017.
Cousins will be without his top-two leading wide receivers from a season ago in Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson. Also, his offensive coordinator since 2014, Sean McVay, left during the offseason to become the head coach of the Los Angeles Rams. With all of these departures, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Cousins get off to a slow start. With that said, I’m still willing to take a chance on him in the 10th-round or later due to his track record.
Cousins has averaged 27 touchdown passes over the last two years and has sneaky upside with his feet (nine rushing touchdowns since 2015). During the offseason the Redskins went out and signed wide receiver Terrelle Pryor, and don’t forget about their 2016 first-round pick Josh Doctson. If Doctson can stay healthy (unlike last year), their wide receiver corps could be just as dangerous as it was a season ago.
