3. Randall Cobb, Green Bay Packers

Fantasy Football Calculator ADP: 10.01

Randall Cobb disappointed his owners last year after he finished the season as the 52nd PPR wide receiver. His receptions (60), receiving yards (610) and touchdown receptions (4) were his fewest since 2013. As bad as his season was, not all hope is lost for Cobb.

I’ll concede there’s little chance Cobb will be able to put the kind of numbers he did in 2014 when he was the eighth PPR wide receiver. Yet, his stats last year may not be as bad you think. Cobb dealt with a variety of injuries and it forced him to sit out three games.

The first game he missed was in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons and it was due to a hamstring injury. In Weeks 1-7 (before the injury) Cobb was the 20th PPR wide receiver. Keep in mind, the Packers had their bye-week in Week 4 so Cobb was actually averaging the 16th-most points per week among wide receivers.

Cobb’s hamstring injury lingered and then he suffered an ankle injury in Week 14. The injury forced him to sit out the final two games of the regular season. Yet, Cobb was full-go for the Packers during the playoffs and he totaled 18 receptions, 260 yards and three touchdowns across those three postseason games.

Going into 2017 Cobb once again finds himself in the Packers pass-happy offense and catching passes from Aaron Rodgers. Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams will get their fair share of targets, but Cobb will be a WR2/3 in PPR leagues to start the season.
