3. Jack Doyle, Indianapolis Colts

Fantasy Football Calculator ADP: 13.01

This time last year, I had no idea who Jack Doyle was. Outside of Indianapolis Colts and Western Kentucky fans, who did? The 2013 undrafted free agent only had 35 career receptions across his first three seasons in the NFL and wasn’t even a blip on the fantasy football radar. Then the 2016 season happened.

Last year Doyle finished second on the team in targets (75), receptions (59) and receiving yards (584). His five touchdown receptions tied for 10th-most in the NFL among tight ends. He finished the season as the 13th PPR tight end. This season, Doyle very well could set a few career highs in some categories.

During the offseason, the Colts traded away tight end Dwayne Allen. In 14 games last year Allen had 35 receptions, 406 yards and six touchdowns on 52 targets. With Allen no longer with the Colts, Doyle is the team’s clear-cut starting tight end with Erik Swoope taking over as the team’s No. 2 tight end. As talented as Swoope is, I don’t expect him to take the statistical leap Jack Doyle did last season. Instead, I anticipate Doyle seeing more targets and opportunities near the end zone.
