Taking a look at which two teams will help to kick off the 2017 NFL preseason as they’ll face off in Canton, OH in the 2017 Hall of Fame Game.

It feels like it’s been an eternity since Atlanta Falcons were blowing a 25-point lead in Super Bowl LI. In terms of how long it’s been since we’ve seen the NFL. However, the 2017 Hall of Fame Game will mercifully put that to an end on Thursday, Aug. 3. Accompanying the enshrinement of several into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, NFL fans should get quite a treat.

The Dallas Cowboys will take on the Arizona Cardinals in the 2017 NFL Hall of Fame Game on Thursday. For all intents and purposes, this could be a matchup that we could see in the NFC Championship Game.

Of course, if that were to be the case, there likely won’t be many players on the field in the Hall of Fame Game that would be playing for a conference championship. As the first game of the preseason overall and thus for each team, the starters will see limited work — if they get any work at all.

That means that the likes of Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, Dez Bryant and so on will likely not see much work for the Cowboys. Similarly, fans also won’t be seeing much of David Johnson, Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald on Thursday night. With that said, we could see plenty from rookies like Taco Charlton for Dallas and Haason Reddick for Arizona.

In the end, this matchup has a ton of name value, though it might not be the best talent on the field. With that being said, the NFL Hall of Fame Game does offer one very important thing: it’s football. And after all this time, it will be a welcome sight to see players in action of any sort.
