Alabama Crimson Tide running back and 2018 NFL Draft prospect Bo Scarbrough is a big reason for the team’s high hopes, and he’s apparently ready to roll.

Alabama’s running back stable is a who’s who of top-tier talent, and leading the way is redshirt junior Bo Scarbrough, who ran for 812 yards and 11 touchdowns last season. It was Scarbrough’s first campaign garnering major snaps for the team, and he vaulted himself into the second-round discussion at the position.

Scarbrough, unfortunately, broke his leg in the National Championship Game against the Clemson Tigers last year, and the injury came when the bruising back was hitting his stride. Thankfully, his recovery has gone well at every step of the way, with AL.com’s Michael Casagrande reporting that Scarbrough says his leg is “100 percent”. The star running back added that his injury is in “the past”.

Prior to the injury, Scarbrough was on an absolute tear, shining brightly with 90 rushing yards in each of his last four games. He looked lively against Clemson on the biggest stage in college football, churning out 93 yards on 16 carries. Scarbrough scored at least two rushing touchdowns in his final three games of 2016, including in the National Championship Game.

Derrius Guice and Saquon Barkley are clearly the top two running backs in the 2018 NFL Draft class, and both transcendent talents should hear their names called early in the first round. Leonard Fournette heard his name called with the fourth overall pick in 2017, but both Guice and Barkley are the best backs in the class.

After those two, however, the field is pretty open. The likes of Royce Freeman, Kalen Ballage, and the Georgia duo of Nick Chubb and Sony Michel are among those competing with Scarbrough for a high draft slot. With all the depth in this class at running back, it will be interesting to see where Scarbrough lands, especially since he will be ceding carries Damien Harris, Joshua Jacobs, and potentially others.

It’s great to hear that Scarbrough is 100 percent right now, and hopefully he can avoid anymore injuries going forward. NFL teams like to scrutinize everything, so another injury could cause him to slide well below his peers at the position in the upcoming class.
