One week into training camp, the Washington Redskins’ roster is taking shape. Which players could be on the roster bubble?
Now that training camp is in full swing, rosters around the NFL are starting to take shape. That’s also true with the Washington Redskins. While players like Kirk Cousins, Trent Williams, Josh Norman and Ryan Kerrigan are safe, there are numerous other veterans who could be on the roster bubble.
Training camp practices have shown us which players are standing out. Whether it’s Terrelle Pryor making one-handed catches, or Josh Doctson schooling every defensive back on the roster, Washington’s wide receivers are having an outstanding camp overall. The Redskins will have some tough decisions to make at that position.

Suddenly, the Redskins have depth along the defensive line and at inside linebacker. Which means a useful player or two may not make the roster. While that sounds like a problem, it’s one Washington fans certainly aren’t used to. For years, final cuts saw players who don’t belong in the NFL on the Redskins’ final roster. Thanks to shrewd drafting and smart free-agency acquisitions recently, things are changing.
One of the big questions facing head coach Jay Gruden is will he choose to keep Nate Sudfeld as a third quarterback? The answer to that question likely depends on how Sudfeld looks in his extended playing time this preseason. If the Redskins think they can get him back on the practice squad, that’s where he’ll be, freeing up a roster spot for someone who will actually play.
With that being said, here are five players who are clearly on the bubble this preseason.
