For the Texans their rookie in question is obviously quarterback Deshaun Watson. He’ll sit behind starter Tom Savage to begin the opening preseason game. However, considering that the Texans gave up a ton of draft capital to move up to No. 12 in the 2017 draft and take him, he’ll likely see plenty of work.
His adversary on Wednesday night in Charlotte, NC will be rookie running back Christian McCaffrey. The Panthers selected the Stanford product with the No. 8 pick in the draft. Now they hope that he can help take the offense to a new level, along with second-round selection Curtis Samuel.
Both teams should look to compete for their divisions this season, the Texans in the AFC South, the Panthers in the NFC South. With that said, each squad has questions that remain. They’ll look to start answering those questions on Wednesday night.
