Former Washington Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan opened his own Twitter account and continues to say nice things about his former club.
Scot McCloughan was only with the Washington Redskins for two years. However, in those years, McCloughan has become something of a cult hero. McCloughan, who was fired in March by team president Bruce Allen, opened a Twitter account this week and corresponded with fans on pretty much everything.
His first tweet was directed to the fan base that has continued to support him, despite his unfortunate and questionable ouster.
I miss Redskins nation...the fans, coaches, players, trainers and the owner. Stay positive, they will compete.

McCloughan did a lot of great things in his two years with Washington. Heck, most of the team’s acquisitions this offseason were due to the influence of McCloughan. According to the former GM, the Redskins followed his draft board closely:
To a T except for 1 pick

And before Allen takes credit for the signing of Terrelle Pryor in free agency, it’s important to note that McCloughan had him as the No. 1 free agent. Presumably, that means his No. 1 free-agent wide receiver, which is interesting because he ranked him ahead of former Redskins Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson:
I had him placed as #1 FA

Perhaps the juiciest nugget of all was when a fan asked McCloughan would he ever come back to Washington. The deposed former GM didn’t hesitate with his answer.
Yes if the situation was right

If the situation was right? Let’s translate for Mr. McCloughan: that means no Bruce Allen.
So, when owner Daniel Snyder finally tires of the narcissistic, power-hungry egomaniac Allen, McCloughan would be willing to listen. Wouldn’t that be justice? Allen, who went on a campaign to ruin McCloughan’s name, could be fired and replaced by McCloughan? Don’t count on it anytime soon as Snyder is banking on Allen using his political pull within the state of Virginia to get the team a landmark deal for a new stadium.

Seeing someone as respected as McCloughan answering fan questions on Twitter is refreshing. The NFL is an insular operation and many of the executives operate as if they are protecting national secrets. Most GMs or head coaches are buttoned-up, testy and dishonest. Not McCloughan. He just wants to talk football.
So, if you’re not following McCloughan on Twitter, do yourself a favor and do so now.
