The Bad

The defensive depth may still need some tweaking. The backups again experienced a meltdown late in the game. They gave up two touchdowns late against the Broncos that cost them the game. Against the Cardinals, they gave up nine points late. Only a two-point conversion attempt that was attempted just because it was preseason prevented them from going into overtime.

After experiencing one of the worst seasons ever in terms of games lost due to injuries, the Bears must have better depth. They’ve already experienced big injuries this season and it’s only the second week of preseason.

Kicker Roberto Aguayo continued his struggles. He missed on his only attempt, a 49-yarder. Not only did he miss it, he missed it in an ugly fashion. It was a knuckler that just died.

Aguayo is a talented kicker who failed to live up to the pressure of being a second-round draft pick. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released him last week and the Bears, not having a lot of faith in Connor Barth, picked him up. A fresh start with a new team was what many thought he needed.

Well, his start with the Bears wasn’t a good one. Hopefully, he improves and pushes Barth. The Bears lost a few games over the past couple of seasons because of the kicking game, and that needs to change.

Of course, the interception thrown by Glennon was another bad. And speaking of that…
