2. Cooper Kupp is going to be a star

Cooper Kupp is living up to the preseason hype he had coming out of Eastern Washington and that has continued during the Rams preseason. Kupp had a team-leading six receptions for 70 yards with the touchdown.

More from Los Angeles Rams

The touchdown reception may have been the least impressive catch he made all night. The Raiders had miscommunication in the secondary and he was all alone for the score. It would have been far more of a story had he not scored on that play given how wide-open he was behind the coverage.

Throughout the first half, Kupp kept coming up with the passes Goff threw him. Three of Kupp’s receptions — aside from the touchdown catch — resulted in Rams first downs. Kupp was fearless in running routes over the middle and created just enough separation on each play to make the grab.

What’s more, he routinely dismantled whatever coverages Oakland threw his way with crisp route-running and solid quickness. Granted, that could have some to do with the Raiders defensive backs. Even still, he looked dominant like a star-in-the-making should against a paltry unit. He could be the West Coast version of the New England Patriots’ Julian Edelman in the making.
