Predictions for which offensive players will make the Cincinnati Bengals final 53-man roster.

For fans of the Cincinnati Bengals and all the other teams across the league, it has been a long, arduous wait for the beginning of the 2017 NFL regular season.

With the preseason ending this week, there is just one singular event left on the offseason calendar: the roster cutdown.

This year, things are actually slightly different from past seasons with the cutdown. Rather than two separate cut days towards the end of the preseason — one trimming rosters to 75, another dropping them to 53 — we now have a single instance to get to the final number.

The deadline by which these rosters must reach that 53-man requirement — 4:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 2 — is approaching fast, so now is a good time to look at who could make Cincinnati’s final roster.

Some quick notes to take into account:

  • The eventual number for the the overall (offense & defense) number will be 55, rather than 53. This is due to the suspensions of linebacker Vontaze Burfict (three games) and cornerback Adam Jones (one game). While on suspension, players are not counted towards the 53-man roster.
  • This exercise will be split up into two different posts; one to focus specifically on the offensive players (that would be this one), and another to focus on the defensive players.
  • The offensive side will break into these grouping titles: quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, and offensive linemen. Some players may not show up with a particular designation you would find given to them by official roster lists; instead, they’ll be placed where they should actually be expected to see the most time at during this season.

Without further ado, let’s begin this exercise by jumping straight to the head of the snake and leader of the pack: the quarterbacks.
