The Atlanta Falcons can now focus their efforts on one quarterback for this weekend, as the Bears announced their starter for Week 1.
The Atlanta Falcons and Chicago Bears are all set to square off in the Windy City this weekend, as head coach John Fox has announced to his starting quarterback will be in Week 1. It was reported by Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times that the Bears will be going with veteran Mike Glennon against the Dirty Birds — something he’s remained steadfast about all preseason.
While this may come as a surprise to some Mitch Trubisky fans, we all knew Chicago would lean on quarterback experience early-on in the 2017 season.
You can take look at the quote from head coach John Fox in the Chicago Sun-Times below:

"Bears coach John Fox stated the obvious Monday — that Mike Glennon is the team’s starting quarterback — but wouldn’t say whether rookie Mitch Trubisky will be the No. 2 behind him.“We haven’t made that decision yet,” Fox claimed after practice. “I can tell you the starter’s gonna be Mike Glennon. I think with lineups and practice availability, we’ll have more information on Wednesday.”"
This news should make Falcons fans feel even more confident heading into the weekend, as Glennon has struggled against Atlanta since entering the NFL. Glennon has a career 1-3 record against the Dirty Birds, with a total of 683 passing yards, six passing touchdowns and a 71.57 completion percentage.
The former NC State Wolfpack quarterback probably won’t light up on the scoreboard any given Sunday, but he is very methodical. While that may be a recipe for success in Chicago, it won’t help them much against the Falcons fast and physical defense.
With the Bears receiving corps overmatched against the Dirty Birds’ defensive secondary, Atlanta’s linebackers will be key to a Week 1 victory. Glennon loves to get the ball out of his hand quickly, which means tight end Zach Miller could be see a ton of targets on Sunday.
