The official start of the NFL season is quickly approaching. What teams are playing on Monday Night Football and where will the games be held?

This season, the NFL continues its recent trend of giving fans two games on Monday night during the first week of the season. The first game of the season will feature the New Orleans Saints traveling to U.S. Bank Stadium to play the Minnesota Vikings. Kickoff for this game will occur at 7:10 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Drew Brees will lead the Saints offense which ranked first in offensive yards gained and second in points scored last season against a Minnesota defense which ranked third in yards allowed and sixth in points allowed. This game will feature new Saints running back Adrian Peterson’s return to Minnesota, who he played with for the first 10 years of his career.

The second game of the night will be an AFC West battle as the newly named Los Angeles Chargers travel to Mile High Stadium to play the Denver Broncos. Kickoff for this game should occur shortly after the end of the New Orleans-Minnesota game, currently listed on ESPN as 10:20 p.m. ET.

The Chargers felt cursed last season as they faced a record setting amount of injuries throughout the season. The Chargers will be ready to face rival Denver as they look to prove they are better than their 2016 record of 5-11 would suggest.

The Broncos were one game away from making the playoffs last season so they are well aware of how important division games are even in the first week of the season. Trevor Siemian will get the start in this game but there is a belief among fans that Brock Osweiler could take over if Siemian struggles in the first few weeks of the season.
