The Dallas Cowboys received some good news on Friday, as a Federal judge announced that he had granted Ezekiel Elliott a TRO on his suspension.

What. A. Week. First, we had a ruling from Harold Henderson. It came to the surprise of no one, that Henderson, appointed by Roger Goodell, decided to uphold Ezekiel Elliott’s six game suspension. Dallas Cowboys fans were furious.

However, there was still hope, as Elliott and his team of lawyers had filed for a temporary restraining order against his suspension. On Friday, that hope came to fruition as Judge Amos Mazzant announced he would grant Elliott’s request to halt the implementation of his suspension.

What this means, for now at least, is that the Dallas Cowboys will have their star running back on the field for the foreseeable future. Elliott will be eligible to play, until his court case has been exhausted.

Judge Mazzant included in his release, that Ezekiel Elliott “did not receive a fundamentally fair hearing,” referring to Elliott’s claim that the NFL didn’t follow it’s own policies in handing down and reviewing the suspensions of it’s players.

Adam Schefter then released the following on Twitter:

While those of us without a law degree will have a hard time understanding the implications of the language in Mazzant’s ruling, it appears as though experts believe this is a battle that will drag on for a considerable amount of time.

And how does that translate to the gridiron? Well, it appears, and nothing is for certain, that the Dallas Cowboys can count on Ezekiel Elliott toting the rock for the entirety of the 2017 season. Should Elliott’s case be decided sooner rather than later, obviously there is the chance he could have to serve his suspension.

But from everything we’ve seen so far, it appears that Zeke will join Dak Prescott for Year 2 of terrorizing NFL defenses.
