Jacksonville Jaguars: 3 Takeaways from Week 1 vs Texans
By Ryan Disdier
The Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Houston Texans in Week 1 of the NFL season. Here are three takeaways from the team’s win.
Despite playing against a Texans team motivated by the hurricane that ravaged Houston, the Jacksonville Jaguars were able to earn their first victory of the 2017 season. Jacksonville’s win in Houston is the first time the team has won their season opener since the 2011 season. It’s been that long since the Jaguars were able to start the season 1-0, which is a pretty absurd stat.
The fact that it came against a team dealing with the affects of Hurricane Harvey isn’t great. But the fact that it came against a divisional rival is great. This win is the perfect way for the Jaguars to begin the season. Obviously, it’s still very early in the season, and things are bound to change. However, the Jaguars legitimately looked like a dominant team for most of Sunday’s win.
The defense, which features a variety of talent, played up to its caliber. The offense was solid, albeit unspectacular. All in all, there’s a lot of positives to take away from the win over the Texans. Perhaps the lone, glaring negative from the game is the injury to wide receiver Allen Robinson.
Robinson injured his knee on his very first catch.
The Jaguars will have to wait and see what the status with Robinson is, but knee injuries are seldom good.
Here are three takeaways from Jacksonville’s first victory of the year.
