Seahawks vs. Packers: Highlights, game tracker and more
By Randy Gurzi
The Seattle Seahawks faced the Green Bay Packers Week 1 of the 2017 NFL season, and here are the highlights from the game.
Two playoff teams kick off the season against one another as the Seattle Seahawks head to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers. Each team won their division and they also both saw their season end the same way. The Seahawks lost in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs to the Atlanta Falcons 36-20 and the Packers lost in the Conference Championship 44-21.
With both teams looking for a strong start to the 2017 season, neither really was able to produce that early on. The Packers and Seahawks both struggled with poor offensive line play that really marred any semblance of offense from showing itself. Subsequently, it looked like the game would go into halftime at a scoreless tie, but Seattle managed a late field goal to take a 3-0 lead.
With that being said, the Packers finally found a bit of something on offense in the second half. They struck paydirt with a little dump-off pass to Ty Montgomery to take the lead. However it was later in the half when Rodgers found Jordy Nelson on a free play (his patented “catch the D with 12 men on the field” move) deep for another score.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks offensive line remained a sieve and couldn’t stop Mike Daniels. As such, the Packers’ two touchdowns and a late field goal were more than enough to push them past. For such a hyped game, the results weren’t exceptional. Regardless, Green Bay came away with a needed victory to move to 1-0 on the year.
