After an embarrassing loss to the Chiefs, the New England Patriots need to bounce back in Week 2. Here are three bold predictions for the Pats vs the Saints.

Nobody expected the New England Patriots to lose the way they did last Thursday night. Sure, maybe some people expected them to lose. But it’s safe to say nobody could’ve effectively predicted the Patriots falling so hard at home.

It was a tremendously inopportune way to start the year. The good news for Patriots fans is that there’s still hope — obviously.

If you’d like history to back up that claim, then indulge in this history of the Patriots having early-season misfortunes, including losing their season-opener:

  • 2001: Drew Bledsoe goes down with an injury. Backup Tom Brady replaces him, and the Patriots win the Super Bowl
  • 2003: Patriots lose 0-31 against the Bills. They finish the year 14-2, and then win the Super Bowl
  • 2004: The cornerback depth is so bad, Troy Brown gets converted from wide receiver. The Patriots win the Super Bowl
  • 2014: The Patriots get decimated by the Chiefs in primetime. The Patriots win the Super Bowl
  • 2016: Tom Brady gets suspended. The Patriots then face a 28-3 deficit, and still win the Super Bowl

I’m not saying the Patriots are guaranteed to win a Super Bowl, but it’s tough to deny the fact that the Bill Belichick-led Patriots are at their best when things seem to be at their worst. With that being said, this team better pull out a win against the New Orleans Saints in week two.

Here are three bold predictions for the Patriots in their second game.
