The San Francisco 49ers faced the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, Sept. 17 in NFL Week 2, and here are the highlights from the game.

Coming into Week 2, both the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks were hoping to see something from their offense. Each team saw their unit on that side of the ball struggle tremendously throughout what resulted in a loss. Facing off, though, they both hoped to gain some traction moving the ball.

Unfortunately for these teams, that wasn’t the way that things played out. In fact, both offenses looked every bit as bad as they did the week before. Sure, they saw their running attacks make some noise. Seahawks rookie Chris Carson took 20 carries for 93 yards while 49ers workhorse Carlos Hyde had a monster 15 carries for 124 yards on the day.

However, it was the rhythm of the offenses that was severely lacking. For the 49ers, the issues at offensive guard continued against the vaunted Seahawks defense. That left Brian Hoyer pressured and, well, he’s not the best when kept clean, so you can guess how that went for him.

As for Seattle, their offensive line continued to struggle to protect Russell Wilson as well. Though his numbers weren’t horrible — unlike Hoyer’s — Wilson still ran for his life quite a bit and wasn’t able to ever really get comfortable.

The result of this offensive struggle for each team was a low-scoring affair where it was 6-6 at halftime and 9-6 in favor of San Fran late in the fourth quarter. Despite his overall issues due to the line in front of him, Wilson came through in the clutch with a touchdown pass to Paul Richardson. To exemplify how bad their offense has been through two games, that was their first offensive touchdown of the season.

Even still, Seattle picked up the win over an NFC West foe in a game that could’ve gone either way. That has to count for something, right?

The Seahawks moved to the ever-important 1-1 on the season, but it’s hard to feel good walking away from this one. This is clearly an offense with a ton of problems. And when they aren’t facing a team like the 49ers, that could bite them severely.
