Dolphins vs. Chargers: Highlights, game tracker and more
The Miami Dolphins faced the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, Sept. 17 in NFL Week 2, and here are the highlights from the game.
With Hurricane Irma shaking Florida last weekend, the Miami Dolphins saw their Week 1 game get postponed. That was the right call by the league, even if it puts the Phins in a tough spot moving forward. Regardless, they began their season in Week 2 with a trip to the West Coast as they faced the Los Angeles Chargers.
Offense was in high order on the day in terms of yardage with these two teams on the field. However, what’s interesting is that didn’t necessarily translate to points. Solid drives seemed to stall out and oftentimes not end in points. Even crazier was that this happened throughout the day without any turnovers.
Both quarterbacks, Jay Cutler for Miami and Philip Rivers for Los Angeles, were in solid form on the day. The new Dolphins quarterback showcased his arm on a number of occasions and seemed to fit right into Adam Gase’s offense. Meanwhile, Rivers spread the ball around all day long and had the Chargers in a nice spot. he gave them a 10-3 lead and had them ahead 17-13 going into the fourth quarter.
But then the Dolphins were able to get one field goal early in the fourth quarter to pull them within one. Later in the period after the Chargers were again unable to put more points on the board, Miami drove once more and got into field goal range as Cody Parkey hit the go-ahead attempt with a minute left.
Looking for another late comeback, though, the Bolts drove down the field with masterful work from Rivers. That put them in great range for rookie kicker Younghoe Koo to redeem himself as his game-tying attempt was blocked a week ago. Instead, despite being lined up in the middle of the field, he hit it just wide right and the miss sealed the Miami win.

It’s truly hard to say what we should expected from the Dolphins with Cutler at the helm and with question marks on defense. As for the Chargers, they still have the feel of a dark horse team. How all of this plays out should be fascinating.
