The New York Jets faced the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, Sept. 17 in NFL Week 2. Here are the highlights from the game.

In Week 2 of the 2017 NFL season, the Oakland Raiders will host the New York Jets. It will be the home opener for Oakland, who started their season off with a road win against the Tennessee Titans. For the Jets, it’s their second road game in a row after making a much shorter trip in Week 1 to play the Buffalo Bills.

As expected, the Raiders were just a class above the Jets in their home-opener. Right out of the gate, their offense was able to move the ball with ease. Even when they came up empty trying to get into a rhythm early, it never felt like they were out of control.

Two Michael Crabtree touchdown catches in the first half — one in each quarter — in addition to Marshawn Lynch’s first touchdown in Oakland helped push the Raider ahead 21-10 in the first half, the Jets touchdown coming on a bomb to Jermaine Kearse where David Amerson got beat in the air.

However, Oakland didn’t let off the pressure coming out of the locker room and just kept it coming. They pushed the lead to 28-13 after the third quarter when new addition Cordarrelle Patterson took off for a monster 43-yard rushing score. Then in the fourth quarter, they really put the nail in the coffin.

Though Kearse caught another touchdown for Gang Green, it was the Raiders who scored two more touchdowns. Crabtree caught his third of the game while Jalen Richard broke a big run for a long rushing score. Throw in another field goal and it was an absolute rout in Oakland — much like everyone expected.

Should the Jets fail again, the talk of tanking will grow louder as it seems they have their eyes on a top pick in the 2018 draft. Oakland just needs to stay focused and avoid turning this one into a trap game.
