After a deal with the Seattle Seahawks, the Raiders were able to land the veteran runner and he made his home debut for Oakland on Sunday. Fittingly, he had his first touchdown for them and Raider Nation exploded when he did so.
While they are always happy to see a member of their team cross the goal line, this was a different explosion. The pass-happy offense loves having a hard-nose runner to count on and the fact that he’s from the very city he’s playing in means more.
After two games Lynch has yet to hit a triple-digit game, but his impact is felt and he’s incredibly liked by his team. Perhaps the best clip from the whole game came when Derek Carr called a “Seattle” audible. With Lynch on the field and them at the 1-yard line, the quarterback dropped back and threw a touchdown. This was obviously as dig at the Seahawks for throwing the ball from the same spot with Lynch on the team — a move that cost them a shot at a Super Bowl win.
