The Minnesota Vikings faced the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Sept. 17 in NFL Week 2, and here are the highlights and a recap from the game.

A matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers very well should’ve had a ton of intrigue around it. After all, these are two teams looking to move to 2-0 on the 2017 NFL season. What’s more, these are two teams that have a lot to prove after what they showed in Week 1. Sadly, though, this Week 2 affair won’t be what is could have been due to injuries.

Vikings starting quarterback Sam Bradford has been dealing with a left knee injury all week, but there was hope that he would be able to play. Considering the masterclass effort he put forth in Week 1 in a win on Monday Night Football, he’s critical to their success. Unfortunately, a quick test on Sunday morning ruled him out and put Case Keenum in.

That was bad news for the visiting Vikes pretty much right out of the gate. It was clear that the offense from the passing game to Dalvin Cook just didn’t have anything they could do effectively against the Steelers. While the defense tried to hold strong, they just didn’t have a real answer when they were on the field too often.

Despite the talent in the Vikings secondary, Ben Roethlisberger was really on in this Week 2 matchup. He spread the ball around in a big way and continued to have efficient success. With Le’Veon Bell moving the ball at least better than he did in Week 1, Keenum and the Vikings defense just had no match for them.

Minnesota managed only field goals on the afternoon. Meanwhile, the Steelers had it on lock as they notched two first half touchdown — which would’ve been enough to win — and then four field goals in the second 30 minutes to earn the comfortable victory.

This matchup frankly should’ve been much better than it will be without Bradford in the lineup. That being said, the Vikings defense is good enough to still cause Pittsburgh problems. As such, we’ll see how well they show up against the Steelers.
