The Miami Dolphins held on for their first win of the 2017 season over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. Here are three takeaways from the game.
Another week, another extremely tough loss for the Los Angeles Chargers and their faithful fa-base. For the second-straight game, the Bolts were in position to kick a game-winning field goal, but weren’t able to come through in the clutch. Miami, on the other hand, improved to 1-0 by knocking off the Chargers on Sunday afternoon, 19-17.
If we’re being honest with ourselves, these are the types of finishes that force fans to stop watching any kind of sports television for the next week. It literally seems like the Chargers have been destined to lose every game they play decided by one possession or less.
Last year, it was Dolphins linebacker Kiki Alonso who had a pick-six inside of the two-minute warning that won Miami the game. This year, kicker Younghoe Koo pushed a kick a little too far right, sinking LA’s chances of winning their first game in the new city.
Needless to say, this was an absolutely killer loss for the Chargers, especially since it was their first-ever home game as a Los Angeles franchise.
Honestly, I truly do feel bad for the rookie kicker our of Georgia Southern. He prematurely ran out onto the field while Rivers was trying to spike the ball, only to get yelled at back to the sideline. Then he comes onto the field again and misses the game-winner. Yikes.
That said, not everything was bad for the Chargers on Sunday afternoon. Here are three takeaways from the game.
