New York Jets: 3 Players with rising stock after Week 2
2. Matt Forte
Father Time has not caught up with Forte. Not yet anyway. He is going to turn 32 years old in December though. That’s old for a NFL running back these days. However, the 10-year veteran had a little spring in his step in New York’s 45-20 setback to the Raiders in Week 2.

The two-time Pro Bowler paced all Jets rushers with 53 yards on nine carries and added four receptions for 38 yards. Stats like that won’t land him back in the Pro Bowl or help your fantasy team to victory in a given week but it was a nice effort against an underrated Raiders defense.
It’s interesting to note that Forte out-snapped Bilal Powell, 28-17 after getting five more snaps than Powell in week one against Buffalo. These are all positive steps for Forte, who battled knee and hamstring issues in training camp and during the preseason. He should see at least half of the backfield snaps going forward against the Dolphins. Rookie Elijah McGuire should see a few touches as well.
The Jets have to take advantage of Forte while he is healthy. He is still one of the very best pass receiving halfbacks in the NFL. Gang Green needs every effective offensive weapon it can muster because, as all Jets fans know, points are hard to come by this season.
