The San Francisco 49ers face the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday, Sept. 21 in NFL Week 2 on Thursday Night Football, and here is all the info you need to watch.

The NFL’s Week 3 slate kicks off on Thursday Night Football with an NFC West matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams enter this game 1-1, coming off of a 27-20 loss to the Washington Redskins last week. The 49ers are still looking their first win of the season, coming off a close 12-9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2 in which they led for the majority of the fourth quarter.

The 49ers need to establish their run game early and rely upon for most of their offensive production if they hope to beat the Rams. After a bad outing in Week 1 in which San Francisco’s offense only gained 217 yards and scored three points, they found more success in Week 2. The 49ers gained 159 yards rushing in Week 2, as both Carlos Hyde and Matt Breida averaged over eight yards per carry.

Unfortunately for the 49ers, their passing game continued to struggle. Quarterback Brian Hoyer only threw for 99 yards and an interception, completing only 15 passes for his 27 attempts.

The Rams will need to play much better against the run than they did in Week 2. Coming off of a dominant 46-9 victory against the Indianapolis Colts, the Rams allowed three different Washington running backs to run for over 65 yards on Sunday. Their passing defense looked good, holding Kirk Cousins to only 179 passing yards through the game, their second consecutive game holding opposing quarterbacks to under 180 yards.

The Rams are currently in a three-way tie at the top of NFC West with the Seahawks and the Arizona Cardinals. While this game will not be the most exciting game offensively, it will have important repercussions not only in the NFC West but also the NFC Wild Card race. Both teams have struggling offenses. However, the Rams defense has looked much better than San Francisco’s for the first two weeks of the season.
