Round 7: Shay Fields, WR, Colorado

Oh the glorious seventh round of the NFL Draft. This is the round where we all are just waiting on the edges of our seats to see who our favorite team is going to pick and if that player can overcome all odds to make the 53-man roster. All kidding aside, Atlanta would do themselves a solid by drafting Colorado’s top receiver with their last pick.

Shay Fields would be a great addition to a Falcons team that already has a number of talented wide-outs. He’s not a big guy, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t dangerous. Fields came into the season ranking sixth on Colorado’s all-time receiving charts, in addition to coming in at ninth in touchdown receptions and 10th in yards. What’s more, he’s had nine career plays of 50 yards or more.

Those are pretty darn impressive numbers for a player who’s only 5-10 and 185 pounds.

That being said, the Falcons have fallen in love with smaller receivers as of late, which is why I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see them take a chance on the Senior receiver. Not to mention, he could finally be the guy to kick Nick Williams off the 53-man roster.
