The Miami Dolphins face the New York Jets on Sunday, Sept. 24 in Week 3 of the 2017 NFL season. Here are the highlights from the game.

Sunday is only the second time that we’ve seen the Miami Dolphins in the 2017 NFL season. They’re playing their second game of the year in Week 3, of course, because their opener was postponed with Hurricane Irma landing in Florida. They opened up last week instead, earning a gritty win. Now they start AFC East action as they head to MetLife Stadium to face the New York Jets.

In a way, the matchup between the Dolphins and Jets on Sunday was both shocking and not at all. While it would appear that Miami should be able to dominate New York, they couldn’t get anything going early. Jay Cutler showed why he’s one of the most frustrating players in the league, not moving the ball well and clearly not having the trust of his coaches at the helm.

Meanwhile, the defense then let them down as Josh McCown and the Jets started gunning. In the second quarter, he found Robbie Anderson on a 69-yard touchdown that, coupled with a field goal, pulled New York ahead 10-0 going into halftime.

Out of the locker room, though, the Dolphins didn’t have any more life. Cutler continued to struggle, eating sacks and making horrible throws that resulted in incompletions and turnovers. Contrarily, the Jets stayed solid as they were able to protect the ball and add 10 more points in the third quarter. Though Miami added a garbage time score, this was shockingly all Jets from the get-go.

Though we’ve only seen one week’s worth of action from them, the Dolphins appeared to clearly be the class of this game. The Jets just simply don’t have the talent to compete on Any Given Sunday. However, they proved that Cutler is still Cutler and came up with a huge upset on Sunday.
