In the wake of Donald Trump’s comments about the NFL, the Ravens and Jaguars kneeled and locked arms during the national anthem in London.

Friday and Saturday most likely took a turn that the NFL didn’t see coming heading into Week 3. When the President of the United States, Donald Trump, spoke about players protesting the national anthem in Alabama on Friday evening, it sparked an intense reaction from both sides of the issue. As the players were referred to as “sons of b*****s” and told they should be fired for protesting, many spoke out.

There were many powerful words shared by numerous players throughout the NFL. However, most people expected that to not be the end of it. With many owners also voicing support of their players as well, the thought was that we’d see many teams showing unity and protesting before their Week 3 games. We got an early start on that with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Baltimore Ravens playing in London.

In front of a massive crowd in Wembley, the Jaguars and Ravens didn’t let not playing in the United States stop them from being courageous. As the “Star-Spangled Banner” was played, the Jacksonville and Baltimore players both kneeled and locked arms to show their unity as a team and as NFL players:

And to really make a point, this also happened right after the national anthem:

Much of what is certain to come around the league in Week 3 is going to be powerful. However, there’s something perhaps even more so about players standing up in this manner when their across the Atlantic Ocean. Even if they aren’t physically in the USA, the Ravens and Jaguars showed unity as a team, but also unity with the players across the pond.

Though it was surely not his intention, the president most likely opened the door for more discussion and more protests from NFL players and professional athletes as a whole.
