The Atlanta Falcons held off the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon bringing home another tough victory. Here are three takeaways from the game.

If you didn’t have a chance to watch the Atlanta Falcons and the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon, then I truly feel bad for you. This match-up was everything we expected it to be and much more. With two high-profile offenses ready to meet on the turf, it was a recipe for a major score-fest in Week 3 of the NFL regular season.

What was once a 17-3 Atlanta lead heading into the late stages of the second quarter, eventually turned into the Lions being on the 1-yard line, down only four points with 12 seconds left in the game. After two-straight unsuccessful touchdown passes, Matthew Stafford competed a pass to Golden Tate who lunged towards the end zone for the game-winning play, which was signaled as a touchdown.

That said, the play was immediately reviewed and overturned, granting the Falcons a nail-biting victory over an extremely tough Lions football team.

Say what you want about Tate’s knee in relation to where the ball was at the goal-line, but I believe this picture solves all arguments. Disagree with me if you want, but the referees needed a clear, decisive look in order to overturn the touchdown and behold, there it was.

Still, Atlanta was pretty darn lucky to win after turning the football over three times. That said, I doubt we see another three-turnover game for Atlanta in 2017. Here are three positive takeaways for the Dirty Birds in their game versus the Lions on Sunday.
