The New York Jets opened their home schedule with an impressive 20-6 triumph over the Miami Dolphins. Here are three players with rising stock after Week 3.

Finally. Fans of the New York Jets finally had something to cheer about after New York’s dominating 20-6 victory over the Miami Dolphins last Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. It was easily Gang Green’s best performance in over a year and erased any discussion about this year’s team going 0-16.

The win lifted the Jets to 1-2 heading into this week’s home tilt with the Jacksonville Jaguars. There were several outstanding performances across the board but three stood out in particular against the Fins.

Here are three players with rising stock after week three’s thrashing of the Dolphins:

3. Jamal Adams

This is the type of performance general manager Mike Maccagnan must have envisioned from Adams when he selected the LSU product with the sixth overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft. The rookie safety was all over the field against Miami, helping stuff halfback Jay Ajayi and Miami’s rushing attack and breaking up passes downfield. The 6-0, 214-pounder was flying all over the gridiron and finished the best day of his young career with a sack, two solo tackles (both for loss) and a pass breakup.

The Jets fed off his intensity level, which is through the roof. Although just 21 years old, Adams is already one of the leaders of their defensive corps and one of their strongest vocal leaders. He was one of the main reasons that Gang Green held Ajayi to only 16 yards rushing on 11 carries. Adams is a strong, physical player that excels in coming up into the box to help shut down the run at the point of attack.

He is also effective at providing help in pass coverage over the top and for being an excellent open field tackler. His contributions were not lost on head coach Todd Bowles, as he explained to the NY Post:

"“He’s an exciting player. He did a lot of things the right way, He brings a lot of emotion with him. He got the team behind him and got them into it.”"

Expect Adams to continue to improve as the season progresses. If he remains healthy, Adams has the potential to be a Pro Bowl player for many years to come.
