2. Robby Anderson

The Jets have very few players with breakaway speed. Anderson is the fastest player on the team. Gang Green finally took advantage of it last Sunday when quarterback Josh McCown fired a 69-yard touchdown pass to Anderson on a go-route down the right side to lift New York to a 10-0 halftime lead. That was the highlight play of the game and showed how dangerous Anderson can be in the open field.

The Temple product finished the AFC East battle with a game-high 95 yards receiving. It was a much-needed performance for Anderson who struggled in his first two games this season. In the season opener in Buffalo, he compiled just 22 yards on four receptions and followed that up with a dreadful two catch, 28-yard effort in New York’s blowout loss in Oakland.

New York’s offensive line gave McCown enough time to throw the ball downfield, something he was not able to do in the previous two contests. That is where Anderson is at his best — using his speed on vertical and post routes. He gives the Jets a dynamic that coaches can’t teach: speed. The Jets have to do their best to take advantage of Anderson’s ability to get deep and put enormous pressure on the opposition.
