2018 NFL Draft: Denver Broncos 7-round mock draft in September
By Bruce Matson
Round 2, Pick 57: Ronnie Harrison, S, Alabama
I went against the grain with another pick by selecting Ronnie Harrison, safety from Alabama. He fell in the draft and presented a tremendous value in the late second round. Denver doesn’t have many glaring holes in their defensive backfield, but it’s always good to have quality depth.
Harrison is a much larger than the average defensive back. He’s currently listed at 6-foot-3 and weighs 214 pounds. As a very versatile athlete, He is tremendous in coverage and he can also lay the wood while defending the run.
Last year, he accumulated 56 solo tackles while generating two interceptions. He’s currently one of the key pieces on the Crimson Tide’s defensive unit.
This was a value pick, considering Harrison was the most talented prospect on the board. There’s a good chance that he could sneak into the latter part of the first round in next year’s draft. Bigger defensive backs who are sound tacklers and can cover opposing wide receivers are what general managers are currently looking for. It’s hard to pass up on talent when it’s sitting right in front of you.
