2018 NFL Draft: Denver Broncos 7-round mock draft in September
By Bruce Matson
Round 4, Pick 104: Frank Ragnow, C, Arkansas (From San Francisco)
It took until Round 4, but I finally addressed a major position of need. Matt Paradis is the team’s starting center and he should be the team’s starter for years to come. However, Frank Ragnow could provide depth along the interior of the offensive line. He can play both guard and center which could allow the coaching staff to move him around if the there were an injury to any of the interior offensive linemen.
He has enough talent to eventually carve out a role at either starting guard position. Ragnow stands at 6-5 and weighs 317 pounds, so he definitely has the size to compete at the NFL level.
This is a good pick, because it provides versatility for the offensive line. He’s also good enough to push for a starting spot and make the offensive line a more sound and efficient unit.
Round 4, Pick 127: Jason Cabinda, LB, Penn State
Penn State is known for putting out talented linebackers and Jason Cabinda is one of the most sound linebackers in the nations. He’s a three-year starter for the Nittany Lions with 216 total tackles over the course of his four-year career. He has 21 tackles so far this year.
The Broncos are currently set at linebacker but the team will always welcome quality young talent to help the team. He will more than likely provide depth for the defense. He’s a very cerebral player who has very good instincts when it comes to locating and getting to the ball carrier. Cabinda is the type of player you want on your football team, because he will always be lined up in the correct spot on defense, making him a very valuable plug and play guy if the Broncos needed help at linebacker.
I don’t foresee him ever becoming a full-time starter for the team, but he’s talented enough to keep the team afloat if the dreaded injury bug ever rears its ugly head.
