Round 6, Pick 204: Akrum Wadley, RB, Iowa

Another running back?! Yes, I doubled dipped at the running back position in this draft, but with good reason. Akrum Wadley is one of the top running back prospects in next year’s draft and there’s no way he will fall to the sixth round. Wadley presents a massive value as the 204th pick in the draft.

More from Denver Broncos

Quite frankly, I would’ve drafted him sooner, but I already drafted Kalen Ballage in the third round and I didn’t want to double up at running back because the Broncos are good at the position. However, the sixth round is a more than palatable price tag for drafting one of the best proclaimed backs in the draft.

Last year, Wadley rushed for 1,081 yards and 10 touchdowns while catching 36 passes for 315 yards and three touchdowns. He’s incredible in the passing game and will fit with the Broncos as the team’s pass catching specialist out of the backfield.

Would there be enough room on the roster for him to make the team? Possibly, but the team would have to make some tough decisions that would cause them to cut or trade some of the other running backs on the roster. Jamaal Charles would definitely be the odd man here in order for this to work due to his age and injury history.

Wadley is a tremendous athlete and would more than likely contribute to the Broncos offense during his rookie season.
