Round 4: Marcell Frazier, DE/OLB — Missouri

The Jets got themselves an extra pick by shipping off Sheldon Richardson. They also got a pretty good wide receiver in Jermaine Kearse and in this mock they even snagged a starting tackle in the second round. What they haven’t done is added to the depth at the position, which they do here by picking up Missouri edge rusher Marcell Frazier.

He plays with his hand in the dirt, and comes from the new pass rushing university, but could slide to outside linebacker in the Jets scheme. That’s something they did from time to time with Richardson, but the 300-pounder didn’t really fit in that role. Frazier comes in with much better size for that job as he stands 6-5 and 265 pounds.

He hasn’t been as active this season since seeing his counterpart Charles Harris head to the NFL Through the first four games he has just eight tackles and 1.5 sacks. He could get back on a streak and see his stock rise some, but as it stands now he falls to the beginning of the fourth round and the Jets will be happy to land the talented player and put him in competition for one of the starting outside linebacker positions right away.
