1. Alvin Kamara becomes the lead back

This prediction is a bit of a doozy, but the possibility could become reality a lot sooner than we anticipated. When the Saints signed Adrian Peterson to complement Mark Ingram, no one batted an eyelash. Then they drafted Alvin Kamara and it seemed only natural for him to become an asset for later.

In the last three games, Kamara has proven he deserves to be considered. During their Week 3 matchup, Kamara finished the game with only two carries for 37 yards, but had their only rushing touchdown. Peterson rushed for only 39 yards while Ingram capped off their rushing attack with 56 yards as most of their plays came via the pass.

While a split running game has been their plan of attack, Ingram was always favored in terms of usage. I predict Kamara will become their lead back for this game. The Saints need to utilize him against the Dolphins defense and surpass both Ingram and Peterson. It’s not going to be easy, but Kamara has proven he’s up for the challenge and can become the team’s lead back.

If Payton gives Kamara the chance for more carries and a continued presence in the passing game, who knows what could happen. A huge performance against the Dolphins will only cement his future status.
