2018 NFL Draft: 5 Best college football games of Week 5
3. No. 24 Mississippi State at No. 13 Auburn Tigers (6 p.m. ET, ESPN)
Mississippi State’s player in the CBS Sports Top 100 rankings is senior offensive tackle Martinas Rankin, the No. 3 ranked offensive tackle and 22nd overall rated player. At 6-5, 305 pounds, Rankin has been named as a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Award as a top scholar-athlete. Rankin is most likely a first-round pick if he continues his season.
For Auburn, players to watch are cornerback Carlton Davis (No. 68 overall) and quarterback Jarrett Stidham (No. 79 ranked). Davis’ most productive game in terms of making tackles was against Clemson, where he totaled 11 tackles, and his first interception came last Saturday against Missouri.
According to Tom Green of Al.com, Davis was challenged 11 times with passes in his direction, where Clemson caught six passes, but he did have two pass breakups as well. Davis is a solid player, and as this season goes along, more NFL fans will get to know his name. He’ll continue to improve, and being challenged by a team like Clemson like he was earlier this season will only make him more valuable when he enters pro football.
