3. Injuries

Thank goodness Atlanta is going into their bye week because they are dealing with a ton of significant injuries right now. The Falcons were already without Ricardo Allen, Ryan Schraeder and Vic Beasley on Sunday afternoon, but also lost their top two wide receivers early in the game against Buffalo, Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu.

More from Atlanta Falcons

While turning the football over three times in one game never puts yourself in a position win, it was clear Matt Ryan was struggling without Jones and Sanu against a tough Buffalo secondary in Week 4.

We can talk about Super Bowl hangovers if you want, but I don’t believe that’s the case for this Falcons team. They have more than enough depth to survive, but the next-man-up mentality only thrives if the team’s reserves make big plays. Needless to say, they didn’t make enough on Sunday afternoon.

Again, Atlanta better be thankful they’re heading into a somewhat early bye week, that way most of these guys can get back to being healthy.

With another physical opponent on the slate in two weeks, Dan Quinn must get his team back to being healthy in order take earn a victory over the Dolphins in mid-October.
