1. Offensive Woes

The Broncos were very fortunate to come out of this game with a victory, because the offense was defininatley missing a beat on Sunday. Trevor Siemian completed just 16 of his 26 pass attempts for 179 yards and one touchdowns. His two main receiver, Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas, combined for just five catches for 38 yards on 10 targets, equating to a 50 percent catch rate between the two wide receivers.

Oakland’s pass rush was able to get to Siemian, sacking him four times, netting 24 yards lost. The consistent pressure from the pass rush also hurt the passing game. Unreliable pass blocking is starting to become a trend and it’s hurting the effectiveness of the offense. Siemian is a young quarterback who is still in the developmental stages of his career, and the inefficient pass blocking really hurts his ability to see the field and connect with his receivers.

Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas needs to figure out a way to get open quicker to help their young quarterback. They are both highly talented receivers who can create separation from most defensive backs at will. If it wasn’t for the defense playing lights out, Denver could have royally lost this game to their division rival.
