2. J.D. McKissic, Seahawks

Sunday was really a brutal day for injuries around the league. Cook’s is among the more serious, but the day also saw Marcus Mariota, Derek Carr and Julio Jones all leave their respective games early after getting banged up. However, one of the most gruesome of the day came in primetime to another rookie running back, Seattle Seahawks breakout player Chris Carson. He injured his leg and was taken off in an air cast after a crowd-quieting scene.

With Carson heading out of the game, we obviously saw more of Eddie Lacy in the fold. However, the door was also opened for 2016 undrafted free agent J.D. McKissic to get into the mix. He didn’t get a great number of touches, but he made the most of what he got. The Arkansas State product took four carries for 38 yards and a touchdown and added a catch for 27 yards and another touchdown. In PPR leagues, despite having only five touches, he’s the 11th-best scoring running back in fantasy football for Week 4.

When you look at the situation, McKissic may have done enough to earn more touches moving forward. Thomas Rawls and C.J. Prosise have been injury-ridden for the past two seasons, and Eddie Lacy has looked less than inspiring in Seattle thus far. While two touchdowns per five touches is unsustainable, McKissic has the speed and talent to prove himself and work his way into a larger role.
