New York Jets: 3 Players with rising stock after Week 4
2. Elijah McGuire
General manager Mike Maccagnan was not quite sure what he was getting when he drafted the elusive tailback in the sixth round (188th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. You can see why. The 5-10, 214-pound McGuire matriculated at a small school (Louisiana-Lafayette), so the Jets GM had to wonder how good the rookie really was, despite compiling some impressive college stats.

Well, it looks like Maccagnan has uncovered a real gem. McGuire exploded for 93 yards on 10 carries, including an impressive 69-yard touchdown gallop, in New York’s victory over the Jaguars. He added two receptions on two targets for 38 yards as well. He is averaging a stellar 6.8 yards per carry on 23 rushing attempts in his rookie campaign.
With Forte still hobbled by his turf toe injury, look for McGuire’s role in the offense to continue to expand moving forward. His carries have increased with each game and he has flashed game-breaking speed out of the backfield. He has also been solid picking up the blitz. The Jets can certainly use as many dangerous weapons as they can get. They have so few. He looks like a real dynamic player and one of the finest late round selections in this year’s draft.
