Fantasy Football 2017: 10 Deep sleepers for Week 5
By Dan Thomas
2. Andre Ellington, RB, Arizona Cardinals (49.3 percent owned)
Since David Johnson went down with an injury, the Cardinals have been using a running back by committee to fill the void. In that committee, Ellington has proven to be the most reliable fantasy football asset.
Over the last two weeks Ellington has 24 touches but 14 of those touches have been receptions. Last week he led the entire team in receptions (9) and targets (14). He now has back-to-back weeks with 13+ PPR fantasy football points and ranks as the 14th-best fantasy running back during that span. At this point, there’s no reason to believe Ellington won’t continue to be a big part of the Cardinals offense.
1. Devin Funchess, WR, Carolina Panthers (49.8 percent owned)
Over the last three weeks Funchess has never had fewer than 4 receptions or 58 receiving yards. After his big game last week (7 receptions, 70 yards and 2 touchdowns), he ranks as the 13th-best fantasy football wide receiver between Weeks 2-4. Some believe it will Funchess and not Kelvin Benjamin who will finish the season as the team’s No.1 wide receiver. I’m not there just yet but it does show how well Funchess has been playing.

This week, Funchess travels back home to Michigan take on the Detroit Lions. In case you didn’t know, Funchess grew up in Michigan and also attended the University of Michigan. Don’t be surprised if the local product gets a few extra looks during his homecoming this weekend.
